Qari Youssef Edghouch was born in Morocco, in the capital city of Rabat. He completed the memorization of the Quran at a young age there. He has two sisters and three older brothers, all of which are Qurra'. Two of his older brothers are Imams in Texas.

Qari Youseef recites with 2 riwayat (different styles) Warsh 'an Nafi' and Hafs 'an 'Aasim. (Most Moroccans recite in Warsh!)

He came to the United States in 2002 and led salat at-Taraaweh in Hawaii. He subsequently moved to North Carolina where he worked with the youth and the communuty. He taught in their Sunday School as well as their Quran memorization school. He moved to Texas with his brothers and also was involved with the community before finally moving to the Islamic Institute of Orange County in 2005, where he currently resides. Qari Youssef is our Assistant Imam and a director of our Quranic School and teaches memorization, recitation and tajweed.
